Penderyn Madeira

 

So I decided to give this one ago since I've not had it in a while, and thought I'd try without reading what I wrote last time.

In short, same as before, it's nice enough, but nothing special about it to set the world alight, recommend it to anyone. If given it, I'd drink it, but I wouldn't buy for myself, it's ok, a bit bland.

As a Christmas gift to some friends I bought this little Penderyn tasting set, "accidentally" ordered one too many😉 I've had and liked the madeira, but not tried the sherrywood or peated.

I decided to try the peated even though I'm not a fan of peaty whisky, I guess this would serve as a good introduction to peat, as it's subtle, since the peat comes from the cask, rather distillation, which means it's not overpowering. Now this may seem a waste to those that like the big peat flavour, but for me it was enough to add some depth, and character.

Saying that, it was ok, didn't like it enough to tempt me to buy a full bottle, but was nice to try something different.
